Shankara Agraharam

Shankara Agraharam .. the Vedic Village ‘An Exclusive Brahmin Community Township’ is promoted by Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Trust, Sringeri. We aim to bring in a highly sophisticated way of living as guided and preached by his holiness Adishankaracharya.

Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Trust is an independent trust registered at Sringeri with the blessing of His Holy Highness Sri Sri Bharathi Teertha Mahaswamigal to preserve, protect, propagate and strengthen intellectual identuity, integrity and self-esteem of the noble culture of Sanatana Dharma.

Shankara Agraharam is being developed as a fully integrated ECO friendly township incorporating all ancient Agrahara culture including and houses Goshala, Veda Patashala, Yagnashala, Ayurveda Kendra and Temple Complex.

Shankara Agraharam is being developed as a modern heterogenous village which was anciently also known as Chaturvedimangalams inhabited by Brahmins. Agraharam’s are fast vanishing with Brahmins taking up professions in urban areas and migrating abroad Agraharam.

Shankara Agraharam is being developed with a view to bring back the ancient Agrahara culture of communal living with modern faciltiees such as a fully integrated Geriatic Hospital supported by the European Health Cluster with a view to have a dedicated Holistic Care of the elderly. We currently have a strong base of 800 members comprising of eminent individuals of the Brahmin community from all walks of life.

Our Veda Pathashalas shall also support higher learning in the Shastras. The Shastras taught here will be Advaita Vedanta, Nyaya Shastra, Vyakarana Shastra, Mimamsa and Jyotishya.
